promotions

Promotions are based off on individual progression and dedication. Students will be monitored and promoted when their instructors believe they are ready for the next level. Karate techniques, as well as, attitude and interest in the art are all taken into account when deciding promotions. Parents who have more questions about promotions, please feel free to email us at novaokinawankarate@gmail.com.

Students are expected to work on the material under their current belt in order to be promoted to the next level.

Recognition stripes

These stripes will be given to students who demonstrate the character and behavior associated with that stripe. Stripes do not follow belt promotions, so once you are promoted you will be able to receive the recognition stripe again. These recognition stripes do not affect when someone will be promoted. They are a visible mean of recognizing the student character.
Compassion Stripe - White
This is given to those students who are genuinely kind and sincere to the other students and instructors in the dojo.
Dedicated Stripe - Orange
This is given to the students who show hard work and commitment to the art of Okinawan Karate.
Attentive Stripe - Black
This is given to students who are consistently engaged and focused, both during and before/after class.
Helpful Stripe - Red
This is given to the students who provide their assistance around the dojo without being asked. They help clean our dojo and explain concepts and techniques to other students to benefit them.
